Every day seems to bring another sport to try, (extreme ironing, anyone?) and a new destination to do it in.
Jumpers for goalposts have been consigned to the great big pitch in the sky, with family adventure holidays and white-knuckle thrill rides taking their place.
With such a wealth of different sports available all with varying levels of risk, those looking to try some of these better ensure they have

Free Jumping
Infamous the world over and known equally for its danger as its fun, free jumping simply involves climbing to the top of a cliff and diving off into the water below. Dedicated spots with deep plunge pools are relatively safe, but amateurs trying to replicate the sport without checking the area first have affiliated the sport with danger and death.
Black Water Rafting
You've heard of white water rafting, right? Well, black water rafting involves floating on rivers through underground cave systems on little more than a rubber ring. Like the notorious potholing, black water rafting is a treacherous way of exploring a cave system, with the activity often maxing out insurance premiums.
Shark Free Diving
Put simply shark free diving is diving with sharks, and little else. There is no cage, no breathing apparatus, just holding your breath and trying to hold your stomach. The closest you get to protection on the dive is diving with a "spear expert." Otherwise, you're on your own.
Alligator Wrestling
The name says it all. The tradition however, dates back to pre-colonial American times, when tribesmen had to learn to control the animals for their own safety. The aim? To overpower the alligator and jump on its back, a move that renders the animal immobile. That is of course, if you can avoid the bite, which average 3200 psi, or enough to lift a small truck.
Suddenly, that old-fashioned kick-about down the park doesn't quite seem like such a bad idea, does it?
